DiGiCo (Digital Console Company) was founded in 2002 in Chessington, England, carrying forward the technology of Soundtracs, one of the pioneers of digital mixing consoles in the 1990s.

DiGiCo has focused on developing digital mixing consoles and I/O racks for the live sound, broadcast, and theatre markets.

To meet the demand for a more compact stage box than the SD-Rack, while still maintaining high audio quality, DiGiCo introduced the D2 Rack within the SD/Quantum family.

The D2 Rack was designed as an evolution of the SD-Rack — smaller, lighter, and more cost-effective, yet still delivering professional-grade sound quality.

The BNC Floor Mount version was created to support MADI connectivity via BNC instead of optical/Optocore (commonly used in broadcast and high-redundancy applications), and to be installed directly on the stage floor (floor mount) for live or theatre productions where portability is less of a priority.
