Hardly any other amplifier has shaped the guitar sound of rock history as much as the Marshall 1959 Super Lead. With the new and modified version, Marshall is bringing this classic back – with real tubes, hand-wired production in England and new features that make it even more versatile. The sound of the original is retained: transparent crunch, dynamic feel, organic response – exactly what the Plexi has been loved for decades. But with the master volume control, the typical gain behavior can now also be experienced at a moderate volume. In addition, the 1959 Modified offers two overdrive modes with which the classic Plexi sound can be taken into new saturation ranges – ideal for modern blues, powerful rock or thick metal sounds. The Bright switch allows further tonal adjustments to achieve a more transparent image of the treble frequencies, depending on the behavior of the speaker cabinet.
Four EL34 power amp tubes for unconditional power
Like its role model, the and Modified 1959 Super Lead relies on powerful tubes with three ECC83s in the preamp stage (incl. phase splitter) and four EL34s in the power amp stage, which together deliver 100 watts of power.
