Walrus Audio Mira: Studio-Grade Compressor in Pedal Form

Walrus Audio Mira is an Optical Compressor guitar effect that provides studio-quality dynamic tone control. With its wide range of features and flexibility, it allows the musician to finely and naturally adjust the compressor sound.

Mira is designed to deliver the warm, smooth, and sustain-rich sound of analog compressors. At its heart is an optical operation that uses photocells to control signal attenuation, known for its smooth and musical response.

Comprehensive Controls: Mira features detailed controls similar to those found in recording studio compressors, including:

Threshold: Sets the volume at which the compressor kicks in.

Ratio: Sets the compression ratio.

Attack: Adjusts the speed at which the compressor kicks in.

Release: Adjusts the speed at which the compressor stops.

Make-Up: Compensates for the loss of signal volume after compression.

Level: Controls the overall volume of the effect.

Blend: Blends the clean (dry) signal with the wet (wet) signal, preserving the clarity of the note head while creating a longer sustain. Also known as “Parallel Compression”

High-Pass Filter (HPF): A switch on the side of the effect activates a low-pass filter that cuts off frequencies below 120Hz to prevent over-stimulation of the compressor. This is especially useful for bass guitars or when you don’t want to over-reduce low-end notes.

Gain Reduction LED: An LED that lights up to show the amount of gain reduction in real time.

High-quality sound: The internal circuit operates at ±15V (even when using an external 9V power supply), which adds headroom to the signal, resulting in a more open sound and reduced chances of clipping.

True Bypass: When the effect is off, the guitar signal passes through without any adjustments to the sound quality.
