The Warm Audio WA73 is designed for intuitive and versatile operation, catering to all modern recording scenarios.

  • Gain Control: The primary gain control is a stepped attenuator, providing high precision for adjustments and easy recall. It offers a massive 80 dB of gain, sufficient for any microphone, including low-output ribbon mics.

  • TONE Button: This is a standout feature of the WA73. Engaging this button changes the input impedance from 1200 ohms to 300 ohms. This significantly alters the tone of the connected microphone, especially dynamics and ribbons. The 300-ohm setting often yields a thicker, more focused midrange-forward sound, while the 1200-ohm setting is typically more open and natural.

  • Hi-Pass Filter: An essential tool for cutting unwanted low frequencies, this filter is highly effective at reducing plosives or low-end rumble. It offers four selectable frequencies: 50Hz, 80Hz, 160Hz, and 300Hz.

  • Inputs: The unit boasts comprehensive connectivity.

    • Mic Input (XLR): For all types of microphones, with a switchable +48V Phantom Power for condenser mics.

    • Line Input (TRS): For connecting line-level sources such as other preamps, keyboards, or mixers.
