🔊 1) Brand & Industry Context

Yamaha is a long-established Japanese company known worldwide for musical instruments, professional audio gear, and pro-audio products. For years, Yamaha collaborated closely with Steinberg, a German company specializing in audio software (including Cubase), after acquiring Steinberg in 2004.

Many of the USB audio interfaces in Yamaha’s previous line-up were branded under Steinberg (e.g., Steinberg UR22C, UR44C). These combined Yamaha hardware with Steinberg-developed software and drivers.

🔄 2) Rebranding & New Series Launch

On October 9, 2025, Yamaha officially announced that it would rebrand and integrate Steinberg-branded audio hardware under Yamaha’s name. This move was part of a strategy to unify hardware development under Yamaha while letting Steinberg focus exclusively on software innovation.

As a result of this transition:

• Interfaces formerly known as Steinberg UR22C and UR44C were relaunched as part of Yamaha’s new lineup — the UR-MK3 and URX-C series, including the URX22C and URX44C.

• This aimed to streamline product identity and better align Yamaha hardware with its software ecosystem (e.g., Cubase AI, dspMixFx, etc.).

🆕 3) URX-C Series (Where URX44C Fits)

The URX-C series is the next generation of Yamaha’s USB audio/MIDI interfaces, designed for creators who record music, stream live content, or produce podcasts. The URX44C in particular:

• Offers 6 inputs and 4 outputs with USB-C connection and support for high resolution 32-bit / 192 kHz audio.

• Includes internal DSP-powered mixing and effects, as well as bundled software like Cubase AI, Basic FX Suite, Steinberg Plus, and Cubasis LE for DAW and streaming workflows.

• Provides MIDI I/O and flexible loopback features for streaming setups.

This generation emphasizes an all-in-one creative workflow, combining Yamaha’s audio engineering with software tools that help streamline recording and live content production.
