The KM-7 MK-III Hybrid provides you with a professional level instrument at a more accessible price. At its core, this 7-string is a 3-piece maple through-neck design with mahogany wings. This axe is powered by a pair of Keith’s signature Fishman Fluence pickups and delivers brutal humbucking tones that force their way to the front of any mix. This axe plays effortlessly, thanks to the 12–16-inch compound fingerboard radius. All in all, the Schecter Keith Merrow KM-7 MK-III Hybrid provides the kind of sensory experience that you’ll have to play to believe.
Hybrid: premium performance without the premium price
The KM-7 MK-III Hybrid is a new addition to Schecter’s diamond series line and the first Hybrid in Keith’s line of signature guitars. After fans asked him how they could get his fantastic signature model without draining their wallets, Keith and Schecter got to work. Eventually, they emerged from the drawing board with the MK-III Hybrid. It has the same controls, bridge, tuners, and compensated nut as the Artist version of the MK-II. The neck-through design uses a 3-piece maple neck with mahogany wings instead of the previous swamp ash. The KM-7 MK-III Hybrid saves you money and gives you premium performance. What’s not to like?
Custom-voiced signature pickups
Keith Merrow is notorious for his tonal obsession. For years, he was a devout fan of passive pickups — until he moved to Fishman. Since then, Keith has converted to active pickups and searched for a sound that combined the best of both worlds. The KM-7 MK-III gets its voice from a pair of his signature Keith Merrow Fluence pickups that have been re-voiced for this guitar by Keith himself. They’re tough and ripping, yet are incredibly articulate when using insane amounts of gain and low tunings. Keith wanted to keep things simple, so these single-voiced Fluences carry only the modern high-gain curve that functions similarly to a passive humbucker. These pickups can handle whatever you throw at them.
3-piece maple neck plays effortlessly
When you’re a virtuosic guitar player like Keith, a guitar is only as good as its neck. Luckily, the KM-7 MK-III Hybrid plays incredibly well. It features the Ultra Thin “C” profile — a favorite feature among players here at Sweetwater. It stays out of the way as your fingers cruise up and down the fingerboard. Enjoy easy chording and wide bending without inhibiting your playing, thanks to the fingerboard’s compound radius. Beyond that, this guitar’s longer 26.5-inch scale keeps your strings tight — even when playing in extremely low tunings. And its carbon fiber reinforcement rods and spoke wheel truss rod adjustment keep the neck right where you need it.
