Yamaha P-S500 เปียโนไฟฟ้าในรูปแบบใหม่ที่ทาง Yamaha ตั้งใจจะให้เป็น”Smart Piano” ด้วยความสามารถในการเชื่อมต่อกับแอพ Smart Pianist เพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการใช้งานมากขึ้น เช่น เอฟเฟค Reverb ที่จะเพิ่มจาก 5 แบบ ในตัวเป็น 58 แบบ เมื่อใช้คู่กับแอพ เพลิดเพลินไปกับประสบการณ์เปียโนที่แท้จริงด้วยเสียงที่เป็นธรรมชาติจากระบบ Virtual Resonance Modelling ให้เสียงสะท้อนส่วนลงตัวในอ็อกเทฟตอนบนเหมือนคอนเสิร์ตใหญ่ แป้นคีย์ Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) 88 คีย์ ทัชชิ่ง 5 ระดับ และให้ซาวด์ Yamaha CFX , Bösendorfer Imperial ในตำนานมาด้วย
P-S500 ถือเป็นอีกรุ่นที่มีจุดเด่นในเรื่องของเสียง มีมากกว่า 600 เสียงเมื่อเชื่อมต่อกับแอพ Smart Pianist สุ่มตัวอย่าง CFX แบบ binaural ซึ่งออกแบบมาเพื่อให้เสียงที่สมจริงและเป็นธรรมชาติในทุกระดับเสียง เปิดโอกาสให้ร้องเพลงด้วยช่องเสียบไมโครโฟนที่ให้มาและ Vocal Harmony อัตโนมัติเมื่อใช้คู่กับแอพ สามารถดชื่อมต่อได้ทั้ง Aux, USB และ MIDI ลำโพงขนาดกะทัดรัดให้ซาวด์ชัดเจน Preset ได้สูงสุดถึง 660 แบบ รวมถึงบันทึกไฟล์ได้ 16 แทร็ก พัฒนาให้มีฟังก์ชั่นมากกว่าทุกรุ่น เปลี่ยนเปียโนไฟฟ้ารูปแบบเดิมๆให้เหนือชั้นด้วยการทำงานจากแอปพลิเคชั่นจนครบเครื่องกว่าเดิมในตัวเดียว
