The Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine is a box full of classic electric organ and vintage electronic keyboard tones. In addition to a standard tonewheel organ, you also get 8 unique sounds that span decades. The Prog setting creates additional tones a fifth above and an octave below your original signal, which is great for fattening up single lines or making chords sound huge. The Compact setting gives you a remarkable vintage transistorized compact organ sound, ala a 1960s Farfisa organ. The Shimmer setting adds a gorgeous string-like sustaining sound to your guitar tone. The Lord Purple setting sounds amazing when you run it through a distorted amp or overdrive pedal, giving you beautiful, acid-drenched sludge. The Mello Flutes setting gives you access to the instantly-recognizable Mellotron mkII flute sound. The Blimp setting provides you with a massive Zeppelin-esque tone with magical upper harmonics. The Press Tone setting delivers the legendary sound of the organ at the Beatles’ Apple Studios. And finally, the Telstar setting puts the sound of the Clavioline in your hands, as heard on hits like “Telstar,” “Runaway,” and “Magical Mystery Tour.”

The Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine gives you precise control over important elements of each preset’s sonic fingerprint like percussive click, modulation, attack/sustain, drawbar setting, or high frequency content. No matter which preset you use, you can create a plethora of sounds, both familiar and unique, by manipulating the C9’s Mod and Click knobs. You can also create some captivating and inspiring tones by blending your dry guitar tone into the mix, using the Dry and Organ knobs. On top of that, you can use the C9’s dual outputs to run two amps or set up more complex pedalboard configurations.

If you already own an Electro-Harmonix B9, the C9 isn’t redundant. Not only does each pedal contain their own unique presets, you can also use both pedals in conjunction with one another, providing you with a complete array of diverse effects. By hooking both pedals to a channel selector, you can send each pedal’s signal to separate amps to sound like two individual players, or combine the two for a huge stereo spread. You can also reverse the order of the channel selector to feed both pedals to a single amp without the need for an external mixer, letting you select each pedal individually or in combination.
